This is Stanley ❤
He is a nine year old mini dachshund rescue, and also the light of my life. In all seriousness, I think it’s really important to consider rescue animals when getting a pet. Yes, puppies are the cutest thing in the whole world. But there are so many dogs and cats (but let’s be real, mostly dogs because cats are…….not the best) that have so much love to give, currently living in a shelter or foster home. Doesn’t that image kind of break your heart a little? I got Stanley from a rescue organization called Denver Dachshund Rescue and Transport. (I did a quick google search for rescues and the next day he was essentially mine. The whole thing was extremely impulsive and I recommend putting slightly more thought into it than I did. But the point is, finding animal rescues is extremely easy, there are thousands of them pretty much everywhere in the country, so there’s almost no reason not to adopt a rescue). DDRT is this amazing group that rescues and fosters dachshunds and other small breeds from all over the country. But if you don’t live in Denver or aren’t in the market for a dachshund (why not, though..?), as I said before it’s SO easy to find other great rescue organizations. I would consider Stanley to be the best thing to happen to me in my “adult” life. So get out there and rescue some dogs (and maybe a cat or two?)!
